Steven Seagal is apparently not the only one Above the Law....

Unless you've been cryogenically frozen for the last year the you've undoubtedly heard about the flagrant discrimination perpetrated by the IRS against conservative groups filing for tax exemptions during 2011-2012.

The FBI concluded this week that the IRS had not committed ANY criminal violations that they could determine and that the matter was strictly that of poor management and lack of proper protocol. Now the part about this that is nothing short of insanity is that they ADMITTED to targeting Tea Party and Conservative groups. They even apologized for doing so... Only during the Obama administration could an out of control leg of the government apologize for doing something ILLEGAL and have the Department of Justice not be able to find a single criminal violation. But we had time to debate if George Zimmerman committed a Civil Rights violation. In less than a week since the story broke they think they have enough on Chris Christie's "BridgeGate" to warrant a full inquiry. But after months and months of testimony and all the fingers pointing straight to Washington, we still don't have a single IRS agent actually fired and now the inquiry is closed.

This folks is what your healthcare management is about to look like... But don't worry when you can't afford the premiums you can get yourself fired and still collect unemployment. Until Lord only knows when...

Mr. President that pen is out of ink and the phone might get turned back off again...

So today our dearly beloved president came out of his vacation hole, saw his shadow and so we will need high unemployment benefits for the next three years...

Okay all joking aside, our commander and chief came out today to reinforce the uninformed belief that the president holds all the cards and can do whatever he wants. He has a pen and a phone and he doesn't need to debate with anyone what's best for the people of this country. I mean because his political record speaks for itself about exactly how the president has his finger on the pulse of the country's needs. We needed reformed healthcare rather than to work on the economy. Reformed healthcare was going to put more money into the pockets of Americans and in turn help the economy. (But we couldn't bother to buy the site from a US company...)

We know exactly how well the healthcare reform has done for the economy and now rather than again choose the economy over public interest, ding ding ding, public interest wins again! Now we need to do a better job about unemployment benefits... His pen and phone are now going to be used exclusively to get more money and benefits to the people that aren't putting anything back into the system.

I know I'm an uneducated member of the working class but I guess I always lived by the old proverb: 'give a man to fish he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime...

Politics, fat jokes and why the media is laughable...

I had to chuckle earlier today while at an office I noticed the cover of Time magazine with a silhouette of Chris Christie with the title; THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.

Now you may begin to feel reading my posts that I sit around laughing, seemingly at random, all day everywhere. This is not the case however the gross, hypocritical nature of media in our culture leaves quite a lot of material to laugh at on a daily basis.

So why do I find this politically incorrect title amusing? For starters, Time magazine's man of the year for 2013 was the Pope! So an organization that can embrace the church enough to name it's head as Man of the Year I would think could be a little more tactful with their political punches. Or wait... Did he get that title for some other agenda? Maybe a little miss reporting here or creative interpretation there? Maybe just shock appeal like a new kind of Madd magazine debuting some over the top nonsense on the cover each month because Time is losing its relevance... (not that I believe naming the Pope as man of the year is nonsense. Quite the opposite however I feel confident in saying Time did so for the wrong reasons.)

Secondly, isn't the new buzz that bullying about self-image is not just bad but EVIL? I mean does bullying for liberals stop at overweight, middle age, questionable Republicans? Apparently the narrative of the Great Spending Machine only allows bullying to be between certain ages, races, sexual preferences and religions as long as it promotes the agenda of big government. Stand in the way of (or walk arm in arm down the beach with...) that machine and you may just find yourself on the other end of a poorly executed fat joke. I mean if Chris Christie goes for a Swan dive off the George Washington Bridge is everyone going to back his wife and kids claim to a law suit against Time for bullying?

Just remember if a Rodeo Clown had delivered it well then we would have had a problem....

**Just a quick note; I am by absolutely NOT a big CC fan. My only purpose in writing this is to highlight the humor of the hypocritical media and left. That and my wife won't listen to my ramblings anymore....

Black Rhinos, hypocrisy and why this post won't read like you expect...

As anyone on social media has undoubtedly heard, from numerous news organizations, the Dallas Safari Club yesterday auctioned off a single permit to hunt and kill an endangered Black Rhino. Now this is how you read it through social media... Like so much news these days the exposure is all absorbed directly from the headline or at most the first paragraph.

Now with this much information you can understand why 75,000 people signed a change.org campaign to try to block the auction. There have been death threats sent to members of the club and a host of negative publicity around the whole auction which occurred Saturday ending with a $350k anonymous winning bid. There has been A LOT of barking about the fact (important to remember these) that the Safari Club is actually an animal conservation group and how hypocritical this is to auction a permit for killing an animal that the conservation is supposed to be protecting. How dare they kill this animal... I mean it's not an unwanted baby... It's an endangered species so those damn hypocritical conservationists.

So now let's do something that doesn't happen enough; inject some facts into the story.
So the critically endangered Black Rhino has an estimated global wild population of about 5,000. The country in question where this permit comes from is Namibia where an estimated 1,700 of these Rhinos exist in the wild under government protection. Actually Namibia has the largest population of wild Black Rhinos and Cheetahs in the world which explains why over 70‰ of land in Namibia is under government conservation. Now Namibia, like so many countries in Africa, has a fairly weak economy which relies heavily on tourism and conservation efforts. That said they auction 5 of these permits every year with proceeds going strictly to conservation efforts. I'm sure there are those who could question whether the funds actually go to conservation efforts but to that I would have to mention that Rhino population decline took a U turn after Namibia started the conservation efforts in the late 1980s when poaching accounted for nearly 1,000+ Rhino deaths annually and by 1993 there were only 2475 recorded globally. So something about their conservation efforts work or else the Rhino would long ago have become extinct.

Now the government doesn't just let these 5 permits get used on any Rhino (which is what the reporting would like you to believe...) These animals are selected well in advance and are older male (bull) Rhinos that are past their reproductive capability and pose a threat to other younger males and females still capable of reproducing. Don't believe me? SavetheRhino.org is one of the widely used donation sites on the web for Rhino conservation and here is what they have to say on their website:

Two white rhinos drinking, South Africa"Trophy hunting is only allowed under strict permit conditions, and a maximum of five black rhino per year may be hunted in each of South Africa and Namibia. The rhinos are selected on careful biological principles: rhinos used for trophy hunting are old, generally post-reproductive bulls, who may have a detrimental effect on the overall rhino population, by being aggressive or territorial. By removing the problematic individual, this may enable a higher growth rate for the population as a whole.

White rhino hunting is less closely regulated, as the overall population is much bigger, and hunting primarily takes place on private land. It is therefore in the interests of the owner to select rhinos for hunts, whose removal does not adversely affect the property’s overall rhino population. Trophy hunting has played a key role in the recovery of the white rhino population in South Africa, and helped the species recover from the brink of extinction."
In the interest of keeping this post short enough for most people to suffer through I will leave the above portion of the post open which is what I hope it does for even just a few readers minds. Not everyone with a gun is evil and not everyone who hunts (trophy or otherwise) hates animals. One last important one.... Not everyone who calls something hypocritical should open their mouth. Almost every major new organization has put a negative spin on this story. How quickly we all forget that in this country its not socially acceptable to kill an animal but its perfectly acceptable to terminate a baby. Or a brain dead 13 year old (which btw I know several brain dead individuals that I would get thrown in jail for "pulling the plug" on...) Maybe Namibia just doesn't like this Rhino anymore... Maybe his horn looks funny or they really had wanted a girl Rhino. I wonder if the actual reason for this auction, organization and effort would be acceptable if that was the reason behind the hunt...
To close I want to make sure I set one thing VERY straight. Anyone who knows me knows that I am an animal lover. I have never been a hunter, never killed an animal with anything other than a car (and not a Rhino...) and grew up in a house that embraced animals regardless of age, appearance or demeanor. I by no means agree with senseless killing of animals. I even take insects outside rather than killing them (not because I find an issue killing them but the mess is just one more thing to deal with...) That woman that ate a pure bred dog to make a gross statement, in my opinion was an idiot. That was a senseless animal death. But then again sense seems to be less important these days....

Why Affordable shouldn't have been the concern...

The extremely concerning situation happening in California with the family of Jahi McMath again sheds light on why Affordability should not have been the concern in healthcare industry.

Children's Hospital, which has been under national scrutiny for parental rights concerns,  is again at the forefront of this tragic story. An invasive surgery is RECOMMENDED by the physicians to treat Sleep Apnea (which is entirely treatable via non-surgical procedures) and undisclosed post surgical "complications" leave the girl clinically brain dead. Now the hospital has declared the girl dead since December 12th, and already issued a death certificate as of that day. The hospital has since released numerous statements saying that there "is no way" she will ever live again.

Now below I have gathered several articles of individuals declared "brain dead" by hospital officials who have "miraculously" woken up despite insistence from the hospital that it was possible.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2011/12/22/brain-dead-student-awakens-hours-after-doctors-suggest-pulling-the-plug/

This list is all from page 1 of a single Google search on "brain dead patient  wakes" and have all occurred within the last 5 years... Now I challenge anyone to tell me why this family shouldn't want to believe Jahi could wake up one day.

So to get back on topic. Each of these cases shows a carelessness on part of the health organizations treating these patients and an example of doctors and administrators making rash, unresearched decisions with people's lives hanging in the balance. Now this isn't just a disregard for patient health and well being. Doctors do not go through the rigors of medical school and residency because they didn't have anything better to do. I (want to) believe that a large majority of individuals in the health industry are actually interested in patient health. That said there is a grave shortage of GOOD doctors in this country. This problem is undoubtedly multi-faceted however flooding the industry with everyone at anytime being able to come to a hospital for any reason and be required to be seen is certainly not the solution... In fact it will likely make the current issues MUCH worse.

Take my recommendations with a grain of salt but I would get very accustomed to say "I'd like a second opinion please..."

Our thoughts and prayers are with the McMath family.

You Dont Get What You are Not Wanting to Pay For....

So it seems that a number of frigid sick people thinking their "free" insurance had kicked in January 1st, got turned away in Northern Virginia today. There seems to be a big backlash at the hospital who really is just as big a victim as the "insured" due to having their hands tied by this Obamanation (couldn't resist).

Show of hands, how many wish the administration hadn't meddled in healthcare in the first place? Maybe they should have focused a bit more on foreign policy and the economy. At least those were already messed up...
